Eastern Tennessee – East Tennessee is known for its storytellers and its music and the combination of the two. Country music finds its roots among these hills and along the high plateau, where songwriters and yarnspinners found inspiration for many a tale in the beauty and people they found around them. As your story of East Tennessee unfolds, it’s a good idea to sample some of that inspiration yourself by enjoying a “Blue Plate Special” served up daily by WDVX-FM in Downtown Knoxville, a walk in the woods to the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, testing the waters on the Tennessee River, or another favorite pastime of East Tennesseeans – Saturday afternoon tailgating before the Volunteers take the field.
